Sherlock: OSINT tool to find accounts based on username on the internet

Sherlock is a tool written in Python for the enumeration of registered users on different websites, forums and social networks. It was uploaded to GitHub and is useful for OSINT investigations by usernames. We’ll use Replit so you don’t need to have a Linux distribution or installations on the operating system. The first thing we need to do in replit.com is create an account and install the tool from the Shell console.

then use the “git clone” command next to the repository URL on github and then use the “ls” and “cd” command to go to the sherlock installation folder. After doing this we have to use the command “python3 -m pip install -r requirements.txt” to install the requirements for the tool named sherlock to work properly. This will be installed on the replit.com server and installed in the folder.

After this we have to wait for all the dependencies that the tool requires to be installed and when this finishes we have to type “python3 sherlock *username*” and the tool will do its job and show you on which website that username is used

That’s how easy it is to install and use this OSINT tool to collect registered accounts on forums, social networks or websites of an internet user who is on your radar. This is also useful for investigating
